Leak, Leak, Leak

It's been another busy time -- this week we spent a couple nights watching the 7th grade girls basketball team as they participated in the regional tournament. They had a great season and ended it by placing 3rd in the tournament! Check out the intensity on Hailee's face as she waits for the rebound.
We've really seen an improvement in her skills -- she's gotten a lot more aggressive and doesn't stay in the background. She moves herself right into the action .....
This may be the last game for the school season, but next week starts the Parks and Rec program -- guess where we'll be???
In case you're wondering what Gabi did during the games -- she's found a new purpose. She brought a pad of paper and recorded the score, the amount of fouls for each team and the time she's writing it down. She did this every time there was a basket made or a foul added .... by the end of the game she had two sheets of paper filled with numbers. She proudly wrote "To Hailee -- From Gabi" and presented it to Hailee in the car. Hailee wasn't sure what it was, turned it over and looked at for a long time -- looked up at Gabi and said "Thanks Gabi" -- (whew, I admit it; I was worried about what she was going to say).
Gabi was honored by Cousin's Club (what is Cousin's Club? Jack's cousins have gotten together once a month for years and years and years -- when Jack & I got married they invited me to join their crazy group -- it's a lot of fun!). Now back to Gabi -- Cousin's Club was at our house and they each brought gifts to welcome Gabi .... she really raked in the stuff!

After this gift opening extravaganza I asked Gabi to say thank you. She stood up and looked out at everyone for a couple minutes, we thought she might be feeling a bit shy -- NOPE, not Gabi -- she bowed to the left, waved her arm at each person and said thank you -- she then turned to the middle and did the same and then to the right. What a ham!!

Gabi has been to a lot of doctors in the past few weeks. Physicals, immunizations (3 shots at a time the last two times), Ophthalmologist, ear nose and throat and even an audiologist. She's been such a trooper through it all. She does have a hole in her eardrum which was checked closely after cleaning out her ear ..... this was on Friday. By Sunday evening Gabi was running a high fever and was not feeling good. Thought it might be the flu but when the fever stuck around a few days we took her in. The thought was that bacteria entered her system through the hole when her ear was cleaned out -- don't think we'll ever know for sure but it was almost a week before Gabi was feeling better ... poor little thing.

This was Gabi for most of the week ..... definitely not her smiley little self! BUT -- How many of you make sure that your headband matches your pajamas when you're under the weather???? Miss Gabi did -- each and every day!!!
And, yes, this little princess can get a little naughty at times ...... she definitely wasn't in the mood to smile for the picture ......

One more quick story before I go ..... tonight on the way to basketball we were talking about how Gabi's day had gone. Her response was "bad lunch." When asked why it was bad this was her explanation "(student name) potatoes go pants." WHAT??? After a bunch of questions we learned that a student was doing something with her mashed potatoes at lunch and they flew onto Gabi's pants. Gabi cleaned them up but there was a spot where they had been. We told her it was not a big deal and mama can wash the pants.
After a few minutes she says "leak, leak, leak Codee Gabi" HUH???? Now we play 100 questions to figure out what she's trying to tell us. Codee wet on the floor? NO Codee wet on Gabi? NO Where did Codee leak, Gabi? Was she drinking water? NO Was she outside? NO
"Codee, leak, leak, leak Gabi pants" And the light goes on for Jack and I -- Codee was licking the potato spill on Gabi's pants. This is life right now!! Very interesting!!!
Okay; just one more thing .................... Jack didn't want me to post this but it's just so cute!!!

When she's telling about her necklace she's trying to remember the word I used to describe how she handled the shots. Her explanation to Jack is "I three, owww and all done" -- she got three shots, said ow and it was all done.

Tomorrow we have our first post placement homestudy -- can you believe that? Bulgaria considered Gabriela ours the day court was held .... so according to their records our first postplacement is due November 27th ..... so begins the paperwork AGAIN!!!

I love the video!!! Jamey commented that her English is coming along very quickly, she sure understands a lot that you say to her. :) Great Job Gabi! Yes, we also see the "tounge" attitude with Oksana and more verbal attitude these days too. I must say that I too I have a girly girl Gabi wins the prize for matching her headbands to pj's :)
What a cutie!
Great Job Hailee on working so hard in all your basketball games. You definatly have a great look of concentration in the first picture. Good job in the tournament!!!

It's amazing how far her English has come. What a little charmer; she just exudes personality. I love it. It's obvious she's blossoming with all your love. And look at Hailee—quite the athlete you've got there. Life is good at the Ollmann house. Thanks for the great update.

Great to hear your news. About Gabi's eardrum, does it affect her hearing and what can be done about it? Blessings
