State Fair and Mega Birthday Bash

We were not planning to go to State Fair this year .... it really can be quite expensive and we thought we'd pass on it.  Then we learned that cousin Garrett was showing his steer and we definitely needed to support him so we decided to go.  Once that decision was made we realized that Gabi had never been  ....

Hailee couldn't stop telling her everything we were going to do, most of it revolved around all the food she was going to try for the first time ...... (too funny!)

The first stop had to be for those Wisconsin Cheese Curds ... Gabi was not a fan but Hailee was.  Dinner was brats ... now those were more to Gabi's liking .....
We also couldn't pass up the BIG slide .... Hailee had to drag (seriously) Gabi up the steps.  She was scared to death of the slide.  She definitely wasn't getting on one of those burlap rugs alone so Hailee climbed on with her.  Jack and I could hear Gabi screaming all the way down.  Once they were at the bottom she said her legs were shaking and she felt like she was going to throw up.  Ummm ... can't help wondering how she's going to do at Disney .....
We finally met up with Garrett and he proudly showed us his winning steer .... yes, winning steer.  He came in first place in his group and then participated in the Governers Auction.  What an honor for him --- his first time at the fair and he did awesome.  We're very proud of you Garrett!!!

Had a nice time touring the fair with Kim.  So sad they live so far away.  We always have fun together.
The final new taste of day was the famous cream puffs.  Hailee doesn't like them so she opted for a little, tiny brownie ...... kidding, it was the biggest brownie ever!  Below Jack is explaining the proper way to eat a cream puff ... Gabi doesn't think it looks all that yummy.

Hmmm ... not too bad dad .... messy but good.
Yep, the cream is the best part ......

If you ask Hayden who's the best Great Auntie right now he's surely answer Auntie Nancy.  She found this rocking horse at a rummage sale and couldn't pass it up.  Hayden was in love with it and spent a good portion of his last visit riding.
A couple weeks ago we celebrated 6 family birthdays all in one celebration.  What a great idea.  The families are always so busy and it's often times hard to get everyone together for all the summer birthdays that we have.  Below is Gabi, Aunt Nancy, Kim and Jackson.
Here they are ... the 6 birthday boys and girls .... in the back ... Morgan, Payton, Lindsey ... front ... Gabi, Hialee and Hayden.  The most difficult part of this whole thing was figuring out how to sing the birthday song.
Thanks Mike and Gail for hosting the party .... everyone had a great time!!!!

It sure looks like they had a great time at the state fair! I know all the food here at our small town fair overwhelmed Oksana too. :) She really likes the little doughnuts and the Churrios. Not to mention cotton candy. :) As for having the huge birthday thats such a great idea, more memories for everyone and lots of fun! Landon and Oksana are close enough together that we could do that too, as well as my brother and nephew. It would be great ot have a huge get together. Jamey was checking out the blog post and couldn't belive how much the girls had grown up since he last sat down to read. Its hard to see how much Oksana had grown unless we go back in photos but with Hailee and Gabi its easier to see. :) Beautiful ladies we both agreed!

Oksana loves school this year, she has a male teacher for the first time and I think has a slight crush. LOL. He sure has made an impression on her ability to learn and shes obsessed with Science and is overall doing much better paying attention and completing assignments. She has also joined the show choir and will be starting hip hop dance next week, and figure skating at the end of this month. Are your girls up to any sports this fall/ winter? Karate and Basketball? (Takwando? spelling??)
