Trying to catch up on a blog is difficult. Many days I sit down and start and never quite finish. But I will ... this is a great way to remember. Gabi had a lot of questions a few weeks back. The blog was a perfect way to answer a lot of them for her. She was captivated by the videos ... she was especially amazed with the way she spoke Bulgarian. More reasons to keep this going ....
It's been a few years since we've been to the Christmas Parade, normally there's some function or another going on so we've missed it. We went every year when Lisa & Jonathan were little and I think they liked it, but truly, I'm the one who loved it the most. We finally had the day free, the weather was perfect so off we went.
Now this isn't just a get in the car and go activity .... there are some requirements involved: The Komoll's, lots of blankets, chairs and DONUTS! Wish we could have had the Komoll's with us, but .... they are too far away! We did manage the rest ....
It was a beautiful day, cold but we found some hot chocolate to warm us up. Gabi was going along with everything but she really didn't know what was happening. And then the sirens started .....
Yep, we're liking the parade mom ... especially the bands.
I called them again for a picture and they were not too happy about it.
Another band was coming our way --
And then .... Santa .... the holiday season has begun.
St. Nick came .... The girls must have been pretty good because St. Nick was pretty generous.
The slippers he left were a hit ......
On December 10th Hayden and Jackson joined us for 10 days. Amanda and Jonathan finally had their honeymoon trip and we were honored to be asked to babysit for them. We took a few pictures and Hayden made ornaments for mom and dad and the aunties.
Last year Hayden helped us decorate cookies and he remembered . One day while Jackson was sleeping Hayden and I made all the cookies so everyone could decorate them.
The girls were especially creative this year .... some of the cookies were masterpieces. But .... it didn't matter they ate them anyway!!
Jackson didn't decorate this year but he was there.... eating puffs and smiling!
See the concentration that went into each cookie.
We celebrated early with Jack's family -- much too hard to get everyone together on Christmas anymore. We headed to Ginger's .....
We missed Jonathan, Amanda and Lisa but we were so happy to have Hayden and Jackson with us.
The family Christmas is a wonderful event. There's lots of snacks, lots of presents, lots of catching up and a lot of laughter. We missed Mike, who's in India until June, Steve & Jill who had another party along with Lisa, Jonathan & Amanda. BUT most of the younger kids were there ... what a beautiful bunch they are!!!

I agree, what a wonderful way to keep up with the memories. :) Don't know if youre interested but BLURB.COM helps you to make a bound book out of a blog. We made a 2008 book which was mostly the trip to get Oksana and when it arrived it was amazing! It looks like a text book. Very proffesional and very easy to do. I think it cost us about $80 and its over 400 pages. (From the blog)
I am alwasy so excited to see new posts, Gabi has sure sprouted up. Is she standing on tippe toes beside Hailee and the tree? We've never been to the Santa parade here but I think we'll do the Calgary Stampede parade this summer. I would love any suggestions you have about the blog post I had written. (About Oksana) We've been trying a lot and getting so frustrated. :(
The boys sure look happy to be with you, Haille and Gabi must be very doting aunties. Making sugar cookies looks like a blast at your house. :)

You are right! Lots of good memories of the Christmas Parade with the Komoll-Ollmann's! I'm glad your keeping that tradition alive with Hailee and Gabi.
I wanted to bake this year with Norah and Benjamin, but things just didn't work out and we never did. We'll have to do it next year and then Henry can get in on it too.
Miss you much!!!!!
