Flights Are Set

It's hard to believe that we will be traveling for almost 24 hours . . . here's the schedule.

Leave Milwaukee at 6:04 p.m. on Friday, April 11th.

Arrive Minneapolis at 7:22 p.m.
Find our way to the international airport and basically start all over again -- it sounds like we'll have to go through the whole check-in thing again but I'm not positive. Hopefully we won't have to get our luggage and drag it there.

Leave Minneapolis at 9:10 p.m. - flight is 8 hours 20 minutes long

Arrive in Amsterdam at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12th
We have a 6 hour layover in Amsterdam. It sounds long, but we're thinking we'll need that time to walk around before . . . .

Leaving Amsterdam at 6:35 p.m. - another long flight - 7 hours

Arriving in Almaty, Kazakhstan at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, April 13th.

We will be allowed 2 bags of 50 lbs each to check in and 1 carry on of 22 lbs. plus one other carry on such as a laptop or purse. I'm not sure that we'll get it all in but we're going to try. The down side is that although we're allowed this here when we travel to Uralsk from Almaty we are only allowed one checked in bag of 40 lbs. (each) & a small carry on purse/laptop weight) -- Kazakhstan will charge us about $1.50 for every pound we are over that. From the looks of our dining room table -we'll be paying overage charges...

Oh, forgot to mention, we will leave for Uralsk from Almaty on Monday, April 14th at about 8 a.m., they will pick us up around 4 a.m. Guess that means we won't see much of Almaty on this leg -- we'll be trying to get some much needed sleep.
