Getting closer

We have received notification that our Dossier was finally "officially" registered on December 16, 2008. We have been placed on the list of adoptive parents to be considered for available children.

There is a meeting scheduled for January 20th -- our referral will depend on the number of families being matched, the number of children available and the ages of those children. Because we have heard that there are quite a few female children in the 10-12 age range we have high hopes of being matched by the MOJ at this meeting.

IF we are matched with a child than we would know within a day or two -- actually get picture and medical about a week later. From that we are able to decide if we feel the child is ours ... if so we accept the referral; if, for some reason, we do not feel she is meant for our family we can refuse. The MOJ will keep our registration number on the list until we decide.

Once we make the "yes she's the one" decision we travel to Bulgaria to meet her. Once we meet her we will once again be able to decide if she truly is the "one" for us.

Please cross your fingers, toes and whatever else .... We're praying that our time for a referral is finally close .............

Fantastic news—I can't wait to hear the outcome. Just think you might be traveling to Bulgaria sooner rather than later.

Just curious, how does their process differ from Kaz? Do older children get as much say so in the decision making process? How long is the bonding period?

Praying you get a speedy referral.
