For so long now we've been waiting .... waiting for news .... news on the grants we've applied for or news from our agency ... today we got a bit of both.
Disappointing news arrived in our mailbox - a letter informing us that we didn't make the cut for an adoption grant that we had applied for. I'm sure many of you know about applying for grants of one type or another -- all the paperwork you fill out disclosing everything there is to know about your financial situation, all the verification documents that you dig up to support what you're saying, and then there's the reference letters you need from specific people depending on the type of grant you're applying for (maybe our pastor, adoption agency, doctors, employers or family & friends); then they ask you to put the finishing touch on this process by pouring your heart and soul into an essay using 1000 words or less. Such a great deal of time, energy and hope ........... for what??? (sigh)
Yet I know that I'd start that process over again in a minute if I found another grant that I thought we might qualify for .......... anything to bring another child into our lives; anything to give a child a family they deserve -- ANYTHING!
The day is ending on a high note though and although it's not the referral that we're waiting for it brings us a glimmer of HOPE .... enough to keep us hanging on! (I can't explain any more than this right now -- when I can I will tell you)

So sorry about the grant falling through. I know how much time and effort goes into it. I'm glad you're blogging about all this because one day your daughter will read it and know how much she was wanted. I'm also sure Hailee sees what great parents she has. But on a brighter note, I'm glad got some positive news on a referral. Can't wait to hear more once you're comfortable disclosing it.
