It's been awhile since my last update; that would be because we are in the same old place -- WAITING! Last night we (well I did anyway) learned that Kazakhstan could possibly be closed to adoptions because postplacements weren't being done by families who have adopted. The word was that everyone would now be delayed for at least 1-4 months. Not what I wanted to hear!
After e-mailing our agency and receiving a reply in record time they said that in some ways that is true . . . . there are no babies available in Uralsk right now. People requesting babies will have an additional 90 day wait. That is so hard to believe considering how many babies were available when we were there to adopt Hailee. In a way that is really good news -- it means the children are being adopted.
The agency did say that they have 4 dossiers stuck in Astana because of the holidays (Kazakhstan celebrates in Janaury) ours is one of those. BUT . . . . because we are planning to adopt a teen we should be receiving our letter of invitation (LOI) quicker than others waiting for younger children. What is quicker --- that cannot be answered . . . .
So, that's where we are . . . .stuck in Astana! I guess the positive in this is that it's only the paperwork that's stuck and not us!!
