"Gotcha Day"

Nine years ago today we trudged through the snow and ice, climbed several flights of stairs, wound through a dark and dreary hallway to a small courtroom in Uralsk, Kazakhstan. The judge was very serious, the room was so quiet that we were sure everyone there could hear our hearts pounding. Russian and Kazakh words flew around us as our translator tried to explain everything that was being said. At one point Jack was asked to tell the judge why we wanted to bring Hailee home ... he spoke from his heart; I was so proud of him (and very relieved that I didn't have to say anything)!

We were asked to leave the room ...... we waited ...... finally we were told that we could become Hailee's parents ...... she was ours forever .....

Here is Hailee on her first "gotcha day" ....

And her second -- with Jonathan & Lisa ..........

The third -- at Jonathan's basketball game enjoying extra attention from Anna ....

Today marks another big day in Hailee's life -- "gotcha day" for this year has been renamed to "gotcha braces day" -- Here's Hailee showing off her new braces.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!

What wonderful memories. Thanks for the photos, shout out to Hailee, you are still the girl with the greatest smile, braces or not. We love you honey.
We had a great Thanksgiving, hope yours was also.

I can't believe it's been nine years...how exciting! I love all of the pictures from Gotcha Day, especially the new braces from this year! Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe trip yesterday in the snow storm out to Garrett's birthday party! Wish I could have been there, but I had a training for work all weekend -- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -- it was such a long weekend and didn't feel much like Thanksgiving break! Could they have picked a better weekend to have held the training on? Hope you have a great week!

Love,

Ashley

Love seeing the picture of Hailee on her first Gotcha Day—very cute. Happy Gotcha Day Hailee—nine years—wow!!! You're growing up to be such a pretty young lady.

Made me start to think about our 9th Gotcha Day anniversary, which will make Garrett 15 years old and me a decrepit 60 years old—yikes!!!! (Say it ain't so.)

Happy Gotcha Day.
