Hailee "Gotcha Day!"

Today is the anniversary of the day that the courts in Kazakhstan decided we could be Hailee's parents. It was eight years ago and yet I remember the feelings of relief, nervousness and the deep longing to go and get her so we could start our new lives. The trip to the orphanage was long and scary -- the roads were icy and there were cars everywhere. The road was only two lanes and the cars were not moving quick enough for our taxi driver -- he created lane three; right between the other two cars . . . once again there was a feeling of relief -- only this time it was because we arrived at the orphanage safely. This relief only lasted a short time --Hailee hid when we came up the steps to get her -- we had to coax her into the clothes we brought -- she cried and fussed when we put her jacket on and only calmed when we told her we were going in the "machina" (car). Amazingly when we stepped out of the door of the orphanage into the night air she settled down and calmly waved goodbye to the group of people who followed us out the door. She was ours forever and she seemed to know that!!

Our dossier is now in Frankfurt Germany waiting for the next leg of it's journey to Kazakhstan -- before we know it we will once again travel to bring our new daughter home ..........
