What's Happening?

Our agency said that the referral should be here this week ..... hmmmmm .......... They did send us a list of things we should complete as soon as possible. They would like everything in order so that if we decide to accept the referral we can be ready to travel immediately.

1. Put together a picture book of our family, the house, relatives, etc. (that was easy , it was done weeks ago)

2. Write a letter to her that can be translated ... something for her to read when we're not there ......... what do we say?

3. Bring her something so that she knows you're coming back for her ....... what??? Any ideas? One thought I had -- one of those "best friend" necklaces that have two pieces. Take a picture of Hailee wearing 1/2 of it and take the other part to our new daughter along with Hailee's picture. What do you think?

We will be able to stay in contact with our new daughter once our visit is done ... we can send letters through the coordinator in Bulgaria. I'm going to check, but we thought it might be easier to bring items with us, write a short letter with each once we've met her and leave them with the coordinator with dates that they should be delivered -- every week or every other .... any ideas of what we could bring? I'm thinking puzzles, coloring book, crayons, jump rope, small stuffed animal, jacks & ball .......... help. Think small & fun. We can definitely send some things, but the cost is high & it takes quite a while to get through customs.

I'll be waiting to read your ideas ................

Its happening....I can just feel it. We are excited for you. Some of the small things I was thinking about are yo-yo's, books with pictures and words underneath in English. Even if they are small word books like Sadie looks at she might start to at least recognize letter shapes, I don't know, ask your reading teacher or maybe Stace. Maybe a small music box that she could play. Maybe a symbolic Key, to your heart, her new home, her new life. These are just some of the things I came up with this am. I'll try to
think of better things in the next few days. Sending our love to you all...

In Kaz we had lots of Balloons. Water balloon catch outside was fun to cool off and its a fairly quiet game of "don't let it touch the ground" or "Hit it with each body part while saying the name in English" IE: Elbow or Knee for indoors. We also took some dollar store games and sticker books, modelling clay, beads for making necklaces or braceletts etc. I think your idea of a Best Friends charm is great. I have seen one or two that say "Sisters" which breaks into "sis" and "ters" with half a heart each. They are cute too! I can't wait for more info...I check all the time...so excited!!!

I love your charm idea...and what girl doesn't love jewelry! The SISTERS one would be perfect. Norah had a small children's picture dictionary. It was wonderful. I'll put my thinking cap on and see if I can come up with any ideas.
Can't wait...
