After breakfast we walked about 20 minutes to meet Gabriela and her foster mom at the park. We were surprised to see that Gabriela's sister was there, Ganka (foster mom said that she could not find anyone to watch her) -- she is an adorable 3 year old who sang and danced for us!
Gabriela was waving "hi" to everyone in America -- sorry, I was more interested in her face and didn't get her wave in -- just pretend you can see it. :-)
Jack & Gabriela played frisbee for a long time -- here's Jack explaining to Gabriela which disney princess is which -- he did a pretty good job except for 1 blond (not Cinderella) whom he didn't know. (who knew that Jack knows almost all the princess's names -- and why does Jack know all the princess names -- well, after all these years he can still amaze me!)
There was a large wooden playset where Gabriela and her sister played for a long time. We noticed that Gabriela would not cross the swaying bridge, the floating bridge or go up any of the ramps. She seemed unsure of her footing -- Jack went to one side, me to the other and we steadied her as she crossed. After a while she was off and running on her own. She didn't have the upper body strength to cross the rings, but she was willing to try as long as Jack held her.
A few hours into our visit the Social Services Chief came to observe Gabriela with us. We took the whole group to lunch -- pizza at a nearby cafe. It went well, we passed this interview and on our way out of the cafe we were asked what our intentions were for Gabriela. Any guesses as to our response?
Because we earned such high marks from the Social Services Chief we were allowed to take Gabriela on our own with Rossi. Of course we had to do a little shopping. Gabriela found a pair of shoes that she loved and a headband .... she is definitely a young lady -- she spent 10 minutes picking out the perfect one and then had to model it for everyone to see.
At 5 we got a taxi to take us back to Gabriela's home -- we were to drop her off and head back to the hotel, but Danka asked us if we would please come in to see where Gabriela lived. What an honor to be asked .... the home is quite large Rossi said and we felt that it was very nice. You can see that Danka cares for the children very much -- Gabriela had impeccable manners while we were there. She offered us drinks and cookies -- okay she had a little prompting, but still .....
We arrived back to the hotel at 6 -- it's been a long day, but another good one! Tomorrow we think that we will be doing some sightseeing in Razgrad -- the Social Service Chief will accompany us along with Petco and Rossi.
A picture of the three of us today .......
Lastly -- I wanted to answer a few of the questions we've read:
Yes, she has a nickname -- it's Gabi.
Yes, she knows you will be her sister Hailee -- she was looking at pictures of you on the camera and in the book that we brought. Rossi told her that the picture was of Hailee -- Gabriela told her "I already know that is Hailee!" So, I think you don't have to worry about that.
Gabriela likes music and dance. She likes to play with dolls. She likes her reading classes but does not like math as much. She likes art, but says that she can't draw very well. I don't think she has had the opportunity to play many games and sports -- it might be hard for her right now but I'm sure she'll learn from everyone quickly. She does not know how to ride a bike, but she wants to learn.
Well, Gabriela says that she is afraid of dogs -- but Hailee, remember when you first came home and you kept telling Kasee -- "no gushet Hailee" (no eat Hailee) -- you were afraid too, BUT, it only took you one day to get over that. The next day Kasee was laying on the living room floor, you covered her up with your blanket and layed down next to her. You were the best of friends after that. I think it will be the same for Gabriela -- who wouldn't love Codee????
In school Gabriela is learning math, reading, speech, art and gym. She goes to school for 6 hours a day.
Jack & I are going to take a few minutes and relax -- we're meeting for dinner at 8. We're tired, but it's a calm, relaxed and feeling good tired!

What a beautiful post. I'm crying for joy right now. This little girl is so meant to be yours. She already trusts you. I'm thrilled beyond words. I'm so happy that you took the chance and went to Bulgaria. Makes me want to go there and find a sibling for Garrett. (Oops—don't tell Bob that. LOL)
Enjoy your time with Gabi.
Hi Guys,
What a wonderful day for you all. I loved reading about how Jack can still surprise you after all these years. He continues to surprise us all. Jack I am so proud of you, you look so like dad, but are so patient and kind, so full of love for all of your children. God is good, you are a true child of God. Spread the love and the message.
I just returned from the nursing home. Nanc and I served fruit and pound cake with chocolate syrup to the residents. Oh and whipped cream too. Boy did they all love that. Mom is doing well, Cheryl your dad was sleeping, so he didn't get to come.
They moved mom's roommate Donna to the side by Gordie, and she is very sad. For now mom doesn't have a roomie. Her kids did it without telling her about it. How very sad for her.
I am at Stacy's with the kids, waiting for Hailee to get home. Lisa and her are having dinner with us tonight. I can't help but think they are both so happy with the news you have sent us all. But we also are happy for you and Gabi. We are excited to meet her. She will be a great addition to our extended family. We were wondering what language she speaks? Is it like German, or Slovak, or Greek? Let us know, its interesting to get to know her a little more through the blog.
Well I have chatted enough for now. Cheryl and Jack you have found your daughter, she couldn't have found better parents anywhere. Keep sending the great news home and we miss you both.
sending our love and hugs.....
Another wonderful day. We couldn't be happier. She's a lucky little girl and you are such loving parents.
Ken and I spent the day working in the yard. It finally has stopped raining (at least for now) and the sun is out. In the 50's. We started pumping today. Looks like there is more rain coming in on Thursday. YUK!
Have a wonderful day tomorrow...can't wait to here all about it. Thanks for the wonderful pictures also. I'm sure Norah will be happy to work with you, Jack, on those Princess's names.
Much Love XOXOXO

Hi Mom and Dad,
Its Hailee talking, Aunt Pat typing. Has Gabi ever heard the word basketball? If she hasn't I will be teaching her 24/7 how to play. Lisa says that I have Gabi's jaw, I don't think so, what do you think? Is Gabi a girly girl, or a tom boy like me?
How are your days? Are you missing me? (she has left the room and is now concerned about the Brewers losing, 3-1. ) Her shower is done and we went out to dinner with Lisa and Hailee. We went to Papa Luigis' in Cudahy. It was nice to just talk with the girls. I will try to get her back in here for a moment. Sorry, she said the Brewers are pitching, I have to wait. (NO she isn't being naughty, just silly)
I miss you mom and dad, 1,2,3,
Gabi is so darn cute. We can't wait to meet her. Thanks for all of the pics. It's great to see her so smiley!!
Ann from work asked me to post to let you know she's thinking of you and following the blog. Her computer at home is having some issues so she can't post. She wants you to know she's very, very happy for you.
Hailee's been having a good week at school so far. Jill was gone today and it seems that Hailee still had a good day. We're going to work on her science project tomorrow night. She was here playing basketball w/Jake tonight. Jake thinks she needs to be on a select team next year. He said he can't believe how good she is! He thinks she's better than all of the 6th grade girls at his school who are on select teams. In fact, Jake said he thinks she could keep up with most of his guy friends on the court. :)
Not much else is going on here. Jake has his first AAU tournament this weekend. He's so excited. Kylie made the OC all star pom team through Studio 21 so she's a happy camper and Trev is doing well with both of his baseball teams. That's about it, plus work and school. 32 days to go...not that I'm counting down or anything.
Can't wait to hear about tomorrow's adventures. :)
Hi Mom and Dad,
I am so happy, you have to stop making me cry at work, people will think I am such a sap! Usually I am so good about things, but seems to be that the good news is just so wonderful its hard to believe...I cant wait to learn more about Gabi as you get to know her better.
I have to say its kind of lonely here tonight without Hailee...although I have learned that neither of the cats like Codee, in fact they both make noises and hiss at her when she is around, but Dusty has discovered that she is excited and wants to play however scared of them at the same time..so while Jase is hissing, all of a sudden out of no where he come barreling at her and chases after her if she gets too wild..and she runs away from him..imagine..a big dog 6 times their size is afraid of the two small cats..its kind of funny, but I still need to break it up so none of them have issues or gets hurt. In fact Dusty even hisses at me, Jase knows better... I was hoping that by this time of the week they would be better..guess not.
Anyways..I am glad that Gabi recognizes Hailee, I can only hope that Jon and I get a chance to be as close to her as we are Hailee. I certainly and looking forward to trying! I suppose I hear some massive chase going on in the other room..better go break it up...
Love You Both VERY Much!
Lisa
