Happy Mother’s Day to all the special Mom’s out there! We would love to hear all about how you spent your Mother’s Day.
Many have asked us when we will be coming home. We wish we had an answer for you, as we too, are getting anxious to return. What we know right now is that, by law, we have to visit Veeka for 15 days. That could possibly be completed by next week Sunday or so. Then we wait for a pre-court date where the judge reviews all our paperwork and tells us what we will have to do for court. The next step is the actual court day (for Mike & Debbie they had pre-court last Thursday and because of the holiday they will not have court until Tuesday). Since the holidays are done we are hoping to do both within the same week, but again, it depends on how quickly the paperwork can be processed.
After court we will be able to pick up Veeka. At this point in time Jack will be coming home. Because of the unexpected additional expenses and since he’s not getting paid for his time off we have no choice but to have him come home. I’m more than a little nervous about that but there’s really not an option. If staying in the apartment is not comfortable without him we will go to the Pushkin Hotel -- it’s way more expensive but the peace of mind might be worth it -- we’ll have to see how that plays out.
The girls and I will be in Uralsk for 7-10 days after court because all the paperwork has to be processed and a passport & visa have to be issued so Veeka can leave. Once this is done we will travel back to Almaty, go to the US Embassy for more paperwork processing and hopefully be cleared to return home in 2-3 days. As to an exact date, I have no idea. We might be in a better position to guesstimate once Mike & Debbie have court on Tuesday -- we can use their timeline.
We’ve also had quite a few requests for our address here -- I talked with Yulia and she said that on a good day the mail takes about 6 weeks to go between Uralsk and the United States. There is also no guarantee that anything sent will actually make it to the person you are sending -- customs does not always let things come through she said. We know that first hand as we’ve sent things to Yulia and Natalya that have never made it. Thank you for the thought -- it is very nice of you.
Beautiful day again here in Uralsk -- a bit breezy but sunny and warm. Our visit today went quickly - an hour is much too short of time to do much. Hailee, Veeka and Jack threw the frisbie around and a lot of the orphanage children joined in. The caretakers would come and shoo them away but within minutes they were back again. There was one young boy who stood right next to Jack and mimicked everything he did - if Jack put his hands up in the air the boys went up, if Jack put his hands on his hips so did the boy -- so fun to watch - Jack never missed an opportunity to do something for him to mimic.
If Hailee or Jack missed the frisbie the children raced to pick it up and either hand it back or give it a throw. A couple of children tried to “help“ Veeka but she would have none of that. Not sure what she said but she usually ended up with the frisbie. I asked what Veeka was telling the children -- I‘m pretty sure Luba knew but she told me she didn‘t know for sure. That happens a lot I think -- we only get to know what they want us to -- many times there’s a 5 minute discussion and the translation to us is a sentence long.
Tonight we are going to Mike & Debbie’s around 5 ish -- Mike made chocolate chip cookies - he knows the recipe by heart and they searched out all the ingredients they could and are improvising the rest. We’re all looking forward to the visit, we’ll be heading to a new pizza place first and than to their place for dessert. We’ll let you know how the cookies were!
That’s about it for today -- Happy Mother’s Day again to everyone!!! Love you all!!!

Hope your "Pizza & Cookies" Mother's Day dinner went well. Today it is raining again...not a good thing for our lake! I'm hoping it is not an all day rain, but the forecast doesn't look good. I sent you a few lakefront pictures.
We are taking Ken's mom out to a Mother's Day Buffet at Bluemound Garden's. I've never been there, so I will let you know how it goes. Dan will be bringing her and Steve, Monica, Norah and Benjamin will be joining us. Unfortunately, Mike has to work.
Thanks for all the time-line info. But it can't be to soon for me!
Love ya all,
Linda
So happy to hear from you guys daily, and to see a place I'll never be.
Keeping up good thoughts for you all. Will be going to be with Mom for awhile for lunch then on to Gin's for Easter and Mom's day dinner. What else can you do on a rainy day, of course Rudy loves the towel rubs he gets after a very short time outside, what walk?
With not much else to do I have now become a webkinz person, I have Henri, a chicken. So cute.
At least it makes me get off the silly game Millie made me put on my machine. You will see later on.
Sending love and hugs to all.
Good Morning from Franklin,
My mothers day will be very low key, most likely pricing rummage sale items and maybe a trip to the mall. (to return things) We are going to Stacy's for dinner, we will see everyone there. So nice not to have to cook. As Linda said the day is yucky, but after yesterday I welcome a rest day. The machine worked great, until the belt broke, or we broke it, only needed 6 more feet to finish. Was on the neighbors side so not important. The yard is looking good. Anxious to get some flowers in and enjoy the summer. So happy for all of you that your visits are going well, I know the time allowed is not enough. Soon, you will have a lifetime together. Keep up the smiles and know that you will be home in a few short weeks. Let us know if you need anything. We will send it by electronic transfer. Thinking of you all the time, sending our prayers to continue your journey safely and quickly. love and hugs to you all.,,
Happy mothers day mommy!!! Hope today went well and that you enjoyed every minute.
When we were at church this morning, a poem was read and Amanda went and got a copy of it so we could post it for you. Here goes...
Legacy of an Adopted Child
Author Unknown
Once there were two women,
Who never knew each other.
One you do not remember,
The other you called mother.
One gave you a nationality,
The other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent,
The other gave you aim.
Two different lives shaped,
To make yours one.
One became your guiding star,
The other became your sun.
One gave you emotions,
The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile,
The other dried your tears.
The first gave you life and,
The second taught to live it.
The first gave you a need for love,
And the second was there to give it.
One gave you up,
It was all that she could do.
The other prayed for a child,
And God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me through your tears,
The age-old question through the years;
Heredity or environment, which are you a product of?
Neither my darling, neither
Just two different kinds of love.
Just reminded us of you today and how special you and pops are. Can't wait to hear how the day went!!
Love,
Jon, Amanda and Hayden
Hi Guys!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM...not much new since I typed last night, we went by Patty and Harv's today for Noon, and talked for awhile, Patty sends her thoughts and keeps asking how things are going and says you guys a doing a wonderful thing, what courage it must take she keeps saying! Anyways, we went there, gave her the gift James picked out for her (not my idea of a fun gift he bought her a new set of pans and a collandar)...I thanked her for my b-day gift, she got me a basket from bath and body works, always appreciated! Then we chatted some more, and went by James Aunts..same old, same old. I chatted with Patty and Harv, and the rest of the fam just sort of stares at me...even when I smile and try to talk to them..not much gets said, hence I miss being with you guys...I always feel welcome and loved with our family...his besides his parents? Well thats a discussion for another time...we're home now, and that was my mothers day today.
Anyways I love you guys very much and cant wait to hear more and see more pictures of Veeka, Hailee, and you guys...LOVE the updates! Love You All..Lisa
Sounds like you guys had a nice Mother's Day. We're sure jealous of the beautiful weather you're having, as ours continues to be cool and rainy. UGH!
We had a busy weekend, as usual. Trev went to the Brewer's Game on Friday for a b-day party, Jake & Kylie had sleepovers. Saturday was little league. Jake pitched 3 innings, but I missed it. Kylie and I went with a bunch of her friends and another mom to Camp Silverbrook (GS camp). I'm wondering if it's the same place that Hailee went? It is SO cool. We saw where she's going to be staying in June. She can't wait to sleep in the bunk beds. There's a brand new lodge. It's beautiful! We had a great time! Trev had his first game of minors. He played 3rd, 1st, RF, and catcher. He batted twice and had two singles. I was a proud mom. :) We froze our butts off at little league during Trev's game last night. I'm sure you remember those days with Jon, hey? I wouldn't miss it for the world though. :)
Today, Mother's Day, was really nice. We decided to skip church/Sunday School and sleep in/hang out with the kiddos. The kids and Steve made me a big breakfast and then spent the entire morning cleaning for me. Jake even helped w/o complaining. We had Brett, Bon, Ben, Sadie, mom & dad over for dinner. Jackie, Nana T., Lisa and Evan all didn't come. Nana and Jackie are sick and Lisa wanted to stay home for when Liz got home from work. Steve made ribs & chicken on the grill...YUM! Jack, we promise we'll make some for you when you get back...only a few more weeks until you return to normal food. :) Sadie is TOO darn cute! She was crackin' up at Jake and was adorable as can be. You should've seen the outfit she had on (even had a matching floppy-brimmed hat). Too cute!
Steve just came in with a movie for us to watch, so I'll close for tonight. Can't WAIT to see more pics and hear more news about Miss Veeka. Bon and I both think you should bring two Veeka's home...one for you and one for us. Steve was getting baby-itis holding & playing with Sadie tonight. :)
A quick Hello this am. I am off to babysit in WFB for today. Yesterday was very quiet for us. We did get to the mall for returns, and that was all. Didn't want to shop. I went by mom for bingo, they had it if you won, you got a stuffed animal. Well guess how many times she won yesterday? Three! First one was a small turtle, cute. #2-a 12-15 in Yellow Bear, Not so cute, #3-a two foot high Giraffe, cute enough but what to do with all that stuff. Of course she worries about what the kids will do with it all. I didn't see your dad yesterday, I ran out of time. Flo is sick and we went to see her. Some dizzy spells and flu stuff. Then off to the Kleins for yummy food, lots of laughs at the kids and presents. So my day was wonderful. Hope yours was great. Got to run, have a good day. Love and hugs..
