Marvelous Monday

We're still enjoying warm and sunny weather here. Grateful that we each brought a pair of shorts & t-shirts for when we're in the apartment -- we'd cook otherwise! Wishing I had brought my sandals; my feet are screaming when we walk anywhere -- they do not like those tennis shoes at all -- can't wait to walk barefoot on the green grass of home!

Dinner was pretty good last night. We were at this little out of the way pizza place -- when we say little we mean little. There are about 5 small tables & one counter with 2 stools, it's about 95 degrees inside but it's always crowded. Wish we could read the menu cuz' some of the sandwiches look intersting -- but afraid to order one without knowing what it is. We went back to Mike & Debbie's apartment and Mike made chocolate chip cookies while we talked. They were excellent!!! Considering there are no measuring cups, no choc. chips (he cut up chocolate bars), no brown sugar, powdered vanilla and the temperature on the stove didn't stay consistent they tasted so GREAT! A taste of home. He sent some home with us and we're going to share with Luba and Yerlan (our driver) tomorrow. They've never had chocolate chip cookies -- imagine that!!!

Visit went wonderfully again -- Veeka was waiting for us we think. She came down the steps and gave Hailee a big kiss & hug & me one too! Jack got the handshake. She wanted to play outside so we played catch with her. She's learning how to throw the ball pretty well. We also had Luba write out, in Russian, phrases that we think we'll need to communicate in the beginning.

Toward the end of the visit a young girl who is a good friend of Veeka's came over to talk. She had Luba tell me that she would really like to come home with us too - she is the same age as Veeka and beautiful -- she counted from 1-8 for me and asked again if we could take her too. It broke my heart to have Luba explain that we were only allowed to take one child unless they were siblings .......... oh, how I wish .......... Stacy?????? You asked about a sister for Kylie????? I know she's available because she was a child that we could see if things didn't work with Veeka ........anyone???????? Please, she's really sweet!!!

Before we left Nastya and the Psychologist talked with us about some medical tests that Veeka has to have done tomorrow -- her medical needs to be in order for court -- so we will only get a short visit with her tomorrow. Jack & I are saying prayers that all goes well with the tests.

As we were getting ready to get in the car Nastya asked Veeka about coming to America and being our daughter. Her face lit up and she told her that she was ready to come home with us ....... as you can imagine we were on top of the world when Luba translated that to us. WHEW!!!!!

Just a bit ago I was talking with Jack and we think that the reason we came to Uralsk was for Veeka. If we had come in February as hoped she would not have been off the registry -- she was newly off the registry right before we met her -- Yulia had never even met her . . . . the Lord has a plan, it all worked out for a reason and although Saltanat and Zhenya will always have a piece of our hearts it was meant to be .......

This afternoon has been quiet - we took a walk to "our market" and bought a few souveniers. Found something really amazing for Hayden ........ plan to make chicken for the first time tonight. We bought it at a large market that is sort of like Pick-N-Save -- the chicken was actually in the deli type cases so it hasn't been sitting out all day. It may sound silly, but we're realling looking forward to it - MEAT ,,,,,,,,,,, yummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Please keep us in your prayers, the journey is not complete and nothing is for sure until after our court date . . . and please, please keep commenting -- we cannot tell you how much we look forward to reading the comments when we check the blog. For a few minutes when we're reading we feel part of everything we're missing!

Love to everyone .........

Glad it was a Marvelous Monday for you. The weather here is going to be in the upper 50's maybe 60's out here by us....but we'll see. It didn't rain that long yesterday, just most of the morning and than it was OK. Cool, but nice.

Ken has been working a lot of early mornings, which you know he hates now, but Ellie has hired another guy. He is going to be starting next week I think, so than Ken will be working around the shop more, which he is happy about. Than he doesn't have to start until 8:00.

We are continuing to keep you guys in our prayers and hope all tests turn out well so you can keep on track with coming home. Can't tell you how much we all miss you too.

Love,
Linda

Cheryl,
You KNOW I'm up for another. :) Kylie'd be in heaven. I think mom would disown me, but you know I'd LOVE to have another girl. Money and time might be a huge issue, plus the fact that I hate plane rides, even to Florida. Plus, I couldn't be away from my kiddos for so long. Why not just bring her home in the suitcase????? You KNOW we'd take really, really good care of her and she'd see Veeka all the time. :) Gotta go to work. I'm late, but couldn't leave w/o reading. I'll write again later tonight.

So glad your Momday went well, for me I am now getting the Finch to come after I put the feeder out daily but the normal seed is just hanging outside the dining room windows no one noticing it at all.
The home made birdbath has been used once but they do dring out of it, so maybe that's one good point.
Today is get the rummage stuff ready for Saturday, times up only six days to decide what to get rid of, hoping lots of things go from me but I'm not taking furniture, no room this time. Dinner was great yesterday or maybe it was all the family sitting around. Morgan was beautiful for her prom on Saturday they brought pictures.
Her dress was a royal blue and her date wore a white tux. Today again the winter jacket is best for walking Rudy, some day the mornings will become warm, I'm sure. Heard Vegas is in the triple digits already, what did I do?
Love and hugs to all four of you.

We are loving your pictures and positive daily reports. Veeka seems to naturally fit the family, what a beautiful smile. We can’t wait to watch her start her new life within the Ollman clan. :)

I must say hearing about your day-to-day shopping adventures makes me want to travel out of country. The chocolate chip cookie story reminded me a lot of my brother’s life when he lived in Hungary. I remember him trying to grocery shop without knowing any of the language. He found sweet cereal by trying to match the first ingredient on the cereal box to the word on a 5 lb sack that he assumed was sugar.

Our Mother’s day was very nice. I woke-up to Sadie belting out some very loud spit-raspberries, her newest trick. Ben then crawled in bed and gave me a card that sang ‘We are family’ when opened. He also graciously gave me a Webkinz frog and a mug that he wrote ‘I love Mommy’ on. After church and bagels with my parents we got to visit my 92 year old grandma at my cousin’s house. My grandma has been in a nursing home since October, but was very happy to be able to return to her former home (she lived with my cousin’s family) for a few hours. After that we were off to Stacy’s. As Stacy already mentioned, Steve grilled-up a very nice dinner. We also were very lucky to be treated to a Hanna Montana birthday cake from Dairy Queen (the store was sold out of just about every thing so Pat grabbed what she could, knowing Kylie would be excited). I’m not sure what sparked Sadie’s love affair with Jake, but she had really hardy belly laughs every single time he looked at her. She seems to favor boys and can be a shameless flirt. Ben and Kylie had a good time pretending to be puppies that liked to dance to Trevor’s Guitar Hero playing. Who could ask for more fun than that! :)

Wishing you a week as good as the last,

Bonnie

Good Morning to you all from Washington. Hope you slept well and Hailee did not keep you up all night snoring.

Another uneventful day here, I worked the usual 10 hours and Amanda did her observations at the high school. She doesn't have too much left before she's done.

I think we need to talk about getting out of the "box" again. I mean we are hearing a lot about these pizza places. Just look at the food someone has; if it looks good order it.

So, OK, it might be dog or cat or something, same thing chinese food here is made of. Think about that food in Prague mother. I want to hear about the new foods you try!!

Well thats all for now, have a good day world travelers!!

good morning family,

it is so easy to talk to each other like this, hard to really think about how far away we are from each other. yesterday was a fast busy one for me. I was with the kids in the bay. we had a good day. ben was silly and climbing all over me as usual, sadie was just a smiley little girl. brett came home early to get ben from school, (a real treat for me) and took sadie for her shots, oops, they are on tuesday, not monday. so that will have to be repeated today. brian and i met up with ron for dinner in SM. while i was in the city i decided to go spend time with mom and make sure she saw dancing with the stars, so i sat with her until 8:30. whew, then i got to come home and crash. sure was a long day. i slept really well though. today i am taking flo to the dr for some tests. then off to the third ward with jake for a wart removal. hopefully then home to work on the rummage sale stuff. it is on sat, if the rain doesn't come as predicted. i am in no way ready for it. have to go now and get ready for the day. be safe, have a great day and know that we love you all.

Hello- I am glad all is going well. Things are good here. Dad is missing you. I received a call Saturday that dad was hitting, thowing his water at his favorite nurse, and spitting his pills out. The nurse said he missed you. I told her we planned on visiting tomorrow. I talked to him.I think the rest of the day went ok. Because they never called back. sunday went well. He talked about having a baby, getting married, building a house with this karen. he talked about getting a bonus and paying off all the credit cards. The nursing home called yesterday. they are taking a urine sample and a pyschatric evaluation. I talked to the night nurse because the day nurse called and left a message for me to call. and she was gone by the time I called. The night nurse wasn't having any problems with him. so I gave them my day time phone number. We'll see if they call.
I left him a picture of Veeka on his board. He was very excited about her. You know how he laughs and cries. Not to much else. The night nurse did say that he complained he wasn't feeling well but that might be because he misses you. Don't know to much else. take Care Love you kim
