I was so hoping to have some great, awesome, wonderful news to tell everyone today . . . but, unfortunately, this is what I have.
Yesterday was the most wonderful visit we could have hoped for . . . we all left knowing/feeling that life was going to be good. We were on our way to our future family. Her answer was yes and our wheels were turning on all the things we would be doing to make her transisition easier, etc.
Now todays visit --- when we arrived today she looked confused . . . . and we learned that she has a grandmother that she will be calling tonight for advice. She is worried that she will be lonely and will not have a family -- although, we all know that she will have more family than she could ever dream of -- her feelings are legitimate and she has to work through this. She told us that she will have her answer tomorrow morning when she meets us on the bench. We talked with her and tried to explain that we would never, ever stop her contact with her grandmother & cousin and that she would be able to call them, e-mail, write . . . whatever.
Even though inside Jack & I were ripping apart we tried to keep the visit positive. We played some games -- the old telephone game using English & Russian words; and a Russian game where one person has a small object & drops it into one persons hands and yells out Coliska, Coliska and the person who has the object tries to sneak away before others catch them. We then played the no language version of "Go Fish." We actually had a great time and when we left she was back to her happy self.
I have to tell you that at one point in the telephone game she whispered in my ear "Mama" . . . I hope this is a sign!
So . . . again we are waiting the agonizing wait.
On to life here -- we are well. Thanks for all the cold remedies Linda L., brandy is a bit pricey here at the price of $52 for a small bottle. I had to settle for water. :-)
Once we know if SHE is the One we can post pictures and more information so please bear with us.
If anyone needs to e-mail something privately you can use my work address c.ollmann@oakcreek.k12.wi.us -- it is the only one that we can get into successfully most of the time.
Tonight we are meeting with Mike, Debbie & their daughter Shannyshell (she's Hailee's age) and a new couple Nathan & Cindy who just arrived this week. We're going to have dinner at a new pizza place we heard of. We'll be having the Maguerita pizza (cheese) and Cola's I'm sure, since without a translator we can't read another thing on the menus. Sometimes the combinations of ingredients is scary so we do the tried & true variety. We're not up to anchioves & sardines on the pizza (seriously guys).
That's about it for today --- keep those prayers coming . . . she feels so right for us, I hope she realizes it too!
With lots of love .......

Oh my, I can not imagine how trying all this must be on you. I am praying that her grandmother understands what a wonderful opportunity this would be for her to come to America and she leads her to the decision that we are all hoping for. The fact that she was happy again at the end of your visit is a good sign. Hopefully she feels the love that you radiate.
I am glad that you are feeling a bit better. I don't think you would have done the brandy thing even if it was affordable!
The prayers will continue until you are safely home with your daughters.
Love ya!
Wow, another emotional roller coaster ride--how is Hailee holding up under all this? I'm sending lots of good vibes your way and wait anxiously for your post tomorrow.
Warmly,
Karen
What do we say?? I wish I had a magic wand and could wave it over all of you and make everything okay. I know in my heart it will all work out as it should, but it could go quicker and smoother!!
Well we are both hoping you are feeling better Cheryl, and that Hailee is okay so far. I bet Jack would be better with a fishing pole over there, if he could find a lake. Here, it is still cold, damp and rain more than we want. I went to see your dad today. He was a little grumpy, but came around. I trimmed his finger nails and asked him if he needed anything. He said Yes, I am starving. This was at 10:30 am. So I got him a bag of chips, and he asked me to bring a malt and McD's fries next time. So I promised I would. He was fine by time I left. Then off to see Mom. She is okay, we went to play a game in the activity room. Her roomie is leaving this afternoon, hope the next one is as nice as she was. Tonight we are going to see a play downtown. Not to much else going on. We continue to pray that this will work out, Love and Hugs to you all..
My fingers are crossed for you and we are praying.
Just a note to you all, I just spoke with Jack, Cheryl and Hailee. It is sad news again, the girl that they have visited this week will not be coming home with them.. she was finding it too difficult to leave. So they had a long talk, about coming home now, or trying one more time. They both decided to try one more time. I do believe they will go with a little younger child, I think they cannot opt out because of their age. The Ollmann's are doing well, Cheryl is feeling better and they just cannot post today. Tomorrow they will update everyone. While they are sad, they are very positive of what they are doing. So please keep them in your prayers.
Thanks Pat for the update and so sorry to hear about the news. I will keep them all in my prayers.
Oh guys, I am so sorry. I am at a loss for words.
Keep the up faith...she is there.
Love to all!
