Worries Never End

Chilly here today and windy -- it’s one of those days I’m sorry I’m a contact wearer -- constantly battling what feels like a brick in my eye! I know what you’re going to say Linda -- I should switch to soft lenses ……… and I wish I had.

Today has been a mix of emotions again.

We had a very short visit - there is a water problem around the orphanage and school so when we were there they had no running water. Because of this the school decided to run a shortened schedule. How they can decide to do that on the spur of the moment boggles my mind, I can’t imagine the parents in our district just saying “okay, that’s fine” but that’s what happens here. So, Vika had to leave for school at noon instead of 1:30. This meant lunch was earlier, which meant our arrival at 11 meant we only had about 40 minutes with her. Ugh!

Vika and her caretaker had created some lists for us -- one was her schedule which is pretty interesting. The kids get up at 6:30, have morning exercise, breakfast, than preparing for school time (homework), than outside exercise time, lunch, school, tea time when they return, than free time, dinner, homework and bed at 10 p.m. Whew! Vika also wanted to prepare a list of things she likes to eat -- Luba will translate tonight and give it to us tomorrow -- we‘re excited to hear what‘s on her list -- we‘ll have to do some shopping. It was pretty long -- one of the things she really likes is borscht (otherwise known as beet soup - the one soup we didn’t like when we tried it) and, guess what, she knows how to make it too -- Jack is hoping he’s on a fishing trip when she feels like cooking. :0)

Again hugs & kisses hello & goodbye for Hailee and I -- Jack got his normal handshake/hug ---- he’ll have to demonstrate how she does that for you -- it’s pretty cute!

Luba worked another one of her little miracles for us -- she asked if we could take Vika out tomorrow -- they said yes! So, we get to have her for two hours -- we are heading to the new mall to let her pick out some cd’s so we can download on the MP3 player for her, a few books for her and maybe a movie or two. The added bonus is we get to take her to lunch! That means pictures you guys!!!

When the visit was done we headed to the Atrium for phone/internet cards and wandered around a bit - during our wanderings Jack asked Hailee what she wanted to remember Kazakhstan by -- she thought a ring. We checked out a few at the jewelry store and she found one that she loved. Lisa, we think she’s going to be a jewelry lover like you! She couldn’t decide which one was just perfect and would have bought three or four if we would have let her.

It was after we’d been home awhile that the call came that we would be picked up in 10 minutes to head to the office ………… we hoped it was only to collect our extra money for rent, drivers, translators, fees, etc. It was, but, we were also told that there is paperwork that isn’t here. All papers must be current and correct for the courts -- Vika is missing two documents. One is the court paper from the original parent rights termination and the other one states that no relative can or wishes to care for her. Both are critical documents to allow our adoption. Nastya will travel to the town where Vika was born tomorrow and work on getting these papers re-created ……….we are once again very worried. The termination paper will be fairly easy they think and we shouldn’t worry about that - it’s the other paper that causes worry. There is an aunt who signed earlier that she could not care for Vika but it has to be done again. What if her circumstances have changed? What if she regretted signing the paper earlier? What if ……????? It’s going to be a sleepless night ……….who wouldn’t want this kind and beautiful child?
Yulia has promised that she will call as soon as they know -- she says probably around 5 tomorrow evening.

Once again we ask for your prayers ……………..

Oh my, you knew it wasn't going to be easy, but does it have to be this HARD! You know you all are always in my prayers. Just trust in the Lord and know that He is with you.

I so enjoy all your pictures, so I am looking forward to tomorrows photo gallery. You have done a great job of letting us know how life is there with just a few snap shots. Enjoy your shopping, only wish I could go with.

We had a very nice dinner at Jim & Leta's. She's such a good cook. They are doing well, but both Laura and Paul are sick. Paul is at school and it's finals week - not a good time to be down with a bug.

Not much else new here, so I better get to work. Yes, Jack, I am at work!!!

Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Love & Prayers,
Linda

Good morning.
Not much going on here but we are always busy.
Fishing weekend comming up and Bob has been watching the weather channel constantly everyday it changes. This morning they took the showers out of the forcast so he was happy all they seem to do is eat.
Bob has been fishing off the pier but only a few little bass which he throws back any how.
We now have two baby geese on the shore with their parents so that gives us something to watch daily.
Put my flowers in two days ago and for two nights there has been scattered frost warnings but I did not loose anything.
Hailee I did not put my tomato plants in yet will wait until after Memorial Day.
Our prayers are with you during good and down days. Hurry home all four of you.

HI, Took Mom to see the Krovic dancers last night, they were wonderful. Only seven ladies and one man and the music was an older lady playing the accordian-great!
Still have not found any quilt shops around but with the gas prices maybe there is a reason I can't find any. This weekend can't come fast enough for me, been going downstairs and will not come up without something to put in the rummage. My racoons came again last night and dumped over one of my flower pots but nothing else, one night they will give up. I keep on taking the finch feeder in at night and out by seven am.
Club will be here next Friday so that means clean, clean next week-see I don't really have to make any kind of plans, things just occur. The blinds people assure me they will be here and up on or before the 22nd, or maybe the following week as not on the 23rd I told them. Keep us up to date with the pictures they are so enjoyable, when you can.
Prayers for you all daily, love and hugs.

Update comment
Of course don't even think about a bike, the Zess garage can handle pretty many sizes. One for now one for later, etc.

Hi,
Haven't had much time this week to check the blog. Stacy's been keeping me up to date all week about how great things have been going and then I was working with Stacy on some things for our house at school this morning and we looked at the blog together and saw your comments about the missing paperwork. I've been thinking all day about what I could possibly say but there just aren't any words to describe how my heart is hurting for you. You are in my prayers every night. I even have a nun in Costa Rica praying for you and I think that a nun's prayers count extra! Plus, they're in Spanish so there may be extra points for it being in a foreign language too! Anyway, just know that I'm thinking of you all and I sincerely hope and pray that the paperwork comes back just fine. Vika is a beautiful girl and she sounds like such a sweetheart. I look forward to reading your next posting where you tell us all how everything worked out perfectly!

I saw Micah today and wished her a Happy Birthday! She said she had a very good day.

Things at school are the same. People are going crazy trying to get packed. The whole Encore schedule is a mess but we're all hoping we get some news soon as to what our schedule's will be like next year. Only about twenty more days to go!!! A week after school's out I go to Costa Rica and I'm starting to freak out about traveling all by myself. I'm afraid I'll get on the wrong plane and wind up in San José, California instead of San José, Costa Rica or something stupid like that. I'm not the brightest crayon in the box as you know. Yikes! We all miss you very much and are thinking of you!

Take good care!
Hugs!

Happy Friday to you all...it's now 7:45 a.m. by you. I'm hoping you all were able to get some sleep. I'm sure last night was difficult for you. Try to enjoy your time with Vika today. I'm sure you're going to have a blast!! Enjoy every second of it and make sure to take lots of pictures! :)

We just got home from Jake's game...he pitched tonight and, in his words, he "got rocked." Wasn't a good night at the baseball diamond. They lost by the slaughter rule. :(

We're anxiously awaiting good news from you all about Vika's paperwork. We've all been praying really hard and are looking forward to your next post. We're hoping to hear good news by the time we wake up tomorrow!

I'm gonna go relax and continue reading the book I bought last night. It's really, really good!!

Have a fun day and try to relax!
Stacy
